Vanessa Pant Class by Zoom, a description

I’m excited to announce I’ll be teaching Jalie’s Vanessa Pant Class by Zoom, beginning Tuesday August 3rd, hosted by Stitch by Stitch Kingston!

Stitch by Stitch Kingston's Vanessa pant class description

Vanessa has become a “go-to” pattern for me, slim enough to not feel “baggy”, and great style features.  I’ve made 3 pairs this summer.  The first was for this  Fabricville guest post.

My next pair was from a piece of polyester that looks like linen, is cool to wear and doesn’t wrinkle.  I put the elasticized cuff on that pair and often wear it hiking.  I do wish though that the mosquitos couldn’t bite through them, but the elastic cuffs might help keep ticks out.

Then I found a great black and off-white striped fabric and made these.

To get the fit I like/need, a bit has to be added to the rise.  I wrote about that here.

The flat front and elasticized back make for a flattering fit, and the slanted side pockets are deep enough for my “stuff”.  I had fun with the stripes and did my best to match them at the pocket, front and back seams.  Then I used the stripe sideways on the waistband and cuffs, just for fun, and love the playful look.

I’ll be covering some basic alterations in the Vanessa pant class and share my sewing secrets, too.
