Tuck Stitch in Denim Blue
Tuck Stitch in Denim Blue
In preparation for a machine knitting workshop I had been scheduled to teach this week, here is my sample; “Tuck Stitch in Denim Blue”. I had to reschedule the workshop due to a sudden death in my immediate family, but it’s rescheduled now for November.
The yarn I used is Red Heart Comfort Sport, and at stitch size 2 on my Brother Bulky 260 knitting machine it knit up soft and cozy. I based the shape on a sewing pattern I’ve used many times, “Yoko” by Jalie Sewing patterns.
The entire sweater, including the tension swatch used less than one and a half balls. That’s not bad considering that tuck stitch patterns use more yarn than stockinette.
The bands and collar of my tuck stitch in denim blue are plain stockinette stitch knit at stitch size “0”, which provides a nice contrast to the texture of the tuck stitch.
The upcoming workshop is one on how to draft a basic shaped pattern using measurements and a tension swatch. I’m really pleased at how my sample turned out. I’m wearing it today so can tell you honestly that the yarn is very soft and comfortable against my skin. I’ll be knitting more often with that yarn.
