Sewing Classes Fall Winter 2024
Sewing Classes Fall Winter 2024
Hey there! My classrooms are alive with the sound of sewing! We just wrapped up our 5th Jalie Garment Retreat, where 8 sewing enthusiasts spent 2 days with me, sewing Jalie garments! (Pics will follow in another post.) And the sewing classes keep on coming!
November 2024 Sewing Classes:
- Wednesday November 6th:
Sew Stylish, Cover-stitch/Serger Workshop for Trendy Tops! (Space available) This class will have you constructing your top entirely on your serger, including setting in the sleeves, THEN top-stitching the neck and hemming with cover-stitch. You’ll learn my methods for no puckers, no roller-coasters, and take a completed trendy top home.
- November 15/16:
I’ll be at That Sewing Place, Newmarket, mentoring at their Jalie Retreat. During this two-day sewing retreat you will be able to pick your own patterns to work on and get advice and guidance while you sew. You’ll build knowledge, confidence and your wardrobe. Try individual pieces or maybe make a layered outfit. Patterns can be purchased in store or online at Jalie.com.
Lunch and snacks will be included.
If you are interested in attending only one day, please call the store. Cost for one day only is $125.00. Please contact us if you have any questions, or for more information.
Cost: $250 plus tax and materials, available at a 15% discount available with the class.
Dates: November 15 and 16, 2024 from 10-3pm.
- November 24/December 16:
Shirt/Shacket! Based on Jalie’s Claudette. This project has been a HUGE hit. I first taught it for That Sewing Place, Newmarket on Zoom and put these images into my first lesson.
Then I sewed a few sample shirts! And showed them to my sewing sistas, and now we have a hands-on class at our local library.
This Shirt/Shacket class is a 2 lesson project. Lesson 1 is on Zoom, at 1 pm on Sunday November 24th where I will show you how to measure for the correct size and how to grade between sizes if needed, then we’ll talk about some variations to the pattern and different fabrics that are suitable including plaids. I’ll show how to cut so the plaids match.
The homework will be to trace off the pattern in your size and cut out your shirt/shacket.
The second class is hands-on at the library on Monday December 16th from 10-4. You’ll learn how to attach a proper two-piece shirt collar, attach sleeve cuffs, make a sleeve placket, space buttonholes (or snaps) and how to sew a curved hem with either a facing or a turned up hem.
