Second Steps in Quilting
Second Steps in Quilting
So, you made your first quilt top, now what? Layer and quilt it, that’s what.
I recently taught a class called “First Steps in Quilting” at a local store; Artistic Quilts with Colors.
We had a full house and had a great time together. “What’s next?” they asked. “Second Steps in Quilting” I answered.
It’s going to be a hands-on class where they’ll create a couple of samplers of various quilting methods, using both a walking foot and free motion quilting.
Making a Quilt Sandwich
Making a quilt sandwich is the first next step and we’ll discuss a few different ways of doing it.
Second Steps in Quilting, using a Walking Foot
A Dual Feed Foot is sometimes called a Walking Foot or an Even Feed Foot. Its purpose is to assist sewing bulky layers of fabric and batting or multiple fabric layers smoothly and easily and most important – EVENLY.
Second Steps in Quilting, Free Motion Quilting
I’ve put a collection of 9 different free-motion designs for the class to try. I’m looking forward to teaching this class; Saturday, July 22nd from 10 to 4. And, I LOVE to teach!
There are only a few spaces left in this class which is why I put this post together. (The class is capped at 8 people.) There is a supply list which will be sent out upon registration.
