Scrap Happy Quilted Mini Purse
Happy first day of Spring!
Here, the sun is shining, and the last remnants of snow in our yard are evaporating. I’ve been playing in my sewing room, preparing for my Scrap Happy Quilted Mini Purse, Episode 2. This shape and size just SCREAMS for embellishment, and here’s what I did this morning with a crocheted doily and some trim. All it takes for the outer layer are 2 pieces of fabric, 8″ x 10″ for the front and 11″ x 10″ for the back. Other than the embellishment, the purse takes a little over 1 hour to make up, so if you’re looking for a quick spring project for yourself, your daughter(s), grand-daughter(s) or another lovely lass, this one fits the bill.
Are you joining me for this Scrap Happy Quilted Mini Purse class?
If you’re considering it, but are unsure of “How to Zoom”, follow this link for some great information.
My Scrap Happy Quilted Mini Purse is fully lined, has 3 customizable pockets inside, 1 of which is designed for a cell phone, has an enclosed zipper, and it’s cute. AND it uses small bits of leftover fabric, i.e. scraps. Originally I planned this as a waist purse, but a friend suggested a Cross-Body style, so I added the optional “O: or “D” rings to the strap.
Denim is a great choice for fabric, as long as it doesn’t stretch. I cut up a pair of hubby’s, shhhhh. He hasn’t noticed.
I did find it a bit thick to sew in some areas though, so keep that in mind. I have the Zoom class booked, it’s Sunday, March 28th at 10 a.m. Toronto (Trenton) time. Your cost is $5 Canadian, and you can reserve your spot by e-transfer or Paypal to yvettechilcott@yahoo.ca I’ll send the supply list by return email, and the Zoom link with the instructions later this week. If all goes well the recorded video will be available after the class.
I’m excited to explore this new way of teaching, and hope to see you soon. Here’s a link to Episode 1, Scrap Happy Oven Mitt.
Today’s class was marvellous and so well done Yvette. very precise with your directions and it was great that even the teacher can make a wee mistake. You make it so real for us all. Thank you again for sharing your creative teaching abilities . Kathy Herron
thank you Kathy. As you are aware, (as an “insider” ) it can be a frustrating process to get all the technology to co-operate. It’s a work of love.
