Rose 3881 a new Summer Blouse from Jalie
Rose, New from Jalie
Rose. Even the name makes me think of summer, and this Rose is a sleeveless button-down shirt. Perfect for summer!
Rose pattern description:
Sleeveless button-down shirt with collar, relaxed fit through waist and hips, bust dart (adult sizes only), rounded hem, back yoke, forward shoulder seam and box pleat at the back.
- A: With bound armhole, chest pockets.
- B: With partially bound armhole, shoulder ruffle and tie.
Ruffles aren’t my thing, so I made view A in a beautiful double gauze purchased from Distinctive Sewing Supplies, closed now, was my favourite on-line fabric supplier. This lightweight fabric is perfect for the loose airy design, and it gets softer with each washing.
Bust darts and front pockets add style to the front, and a box pleat adds interest to the back. I made no alterations, just cut out and sewed. The fit is true to size, and you can see how happy I am with this shirt.
The armholes were an easy finish with self made bias, and are a good fit. No gaping please.
The collar pieces went together easily, and I finished the front closure with snaps instead of buttons.
You can wear the collar open or closed.
Rose includes 28 sizes, for girls, women and plus which is normal for Jalie.

The instructions are well written with great illustrations. I’ll be sewing more of these, is there a Rose in your future?

Your latest sleeveless blouse looks so comfy and the collar means it could be with dressy or casual bottoms.😊
Hi Carol, thanks, and yes, its very comfy, and the proper collar makes it very versatile.
Beautiful!! You look cool and crisp in this blouse Yvette. Love the detail as well!! You could add a short summery cardigan with this outfit and you are ready for a summers day of adventure and Travel!!
Thank you Heather, it’s a very comfortable shirt to wear, now just waiting for some warmer weather to come back to our area.
Hi, Yvette! I just bought this pattern today and appreciate your review and blog post very much. That is a beautiful Liberty-like print you used! Your Rose looks lovely on you.
Thank you Robyn, I’ve gotten a lot of wear from that top during this hot summer. I’m really glad I made it.
