My Wardrobe by Jalie, plus a New Emilie Sweater
I’ve been noticing lately that I wear the same styles, over and over, just the fabrics change. I call it my wardrobe by Jalie, because they’re ALL Jalie patterns!
I have 2 pairs of Eleonor pull-on jeans, 3 pairs of Renee Ponte pants, 4 Emilie sweaters, and 1 Dolman that I’m cycling through right now. It’s cool here and I like warm and cozy tops and well-fitting long pants. One of my Emilie’s is new, there’s another one on the cutting table, and a new Dolman is coming, too. My wardrobe by Jalie is growing.
My Wardrobe by Jalie starts with Emilie and Eleonore
A great pairing! Both pairs of Eleonore’s were made in a stretch denim that I bought locally. The quality of the fabric is excellent and remains looking good even after numerous washes. The dark pair shown at the left were the ones I made during my Eleonore Sew-Along, the others were made before that.
The Emilie at the left is made of a soft sweater rib knit that collects and shows EVERY cat hair and bit of thread. I followed the pattern exactly. The one on the right has been modified by shortening the sleeves to 3/4, curving the hem so it’s a lot shorter at the front, AND rotating the split collar. I detailed it in this post.
Emilie and Renee
This Emilie follows the pattern with no changes. It’s made of a soft drapy rayon knit which is very comfortable without being too hot. The Renee is made of a black Ponte that’s very comfortable to wear. They look great unless I’m sewing (threads) or until this cat rubs up against my legs.
Do you see that my Renee has a pocket? I detail it in this post.
Dolman and Renee
The Dolman is one of my “Serge a Jalie Dolman in 1-hour” class, and I wear it often. I love the way it looks with this pair of Renee’s which I modified a bit. Of course there’s a pocket, and a contrast wedge for fun. The legs were widened from the knee down by 1 inch on each side at the hem, for a boot-cut look.
My New Emilie
Made with a soft brushed polyester knit that I picked up at Fabricland last week for $5 per meter. It’s soft and cozy and I love the “Ashes of Roses” colour in the flowers. The sleeves were shortened to 3/4 and I modified the collar pattern so it was a bit looser. (see below the photo) Worn with another pair of Renee’s, these were made of a stretch denim, have twin-needle top-stitching, and have a pocket, too.
How I Modified the collar:
You can modify the collar the way I did, just add 3 inches at the fold then draw straight lines from the neck to form a point. The center back seam is now pointed.
Another Emilie and another Dolman in the Works
You are super creative my sewing friend!
As are you Catherine, I hope all is well with you and your family!
