  • B: Long sleeve with optional flounce at the shoulder
  • C: Short self-tie sleeve.

I made my Mimosa sample in View C with the short self -tie sleeve in size W for a 38″ bust.  The fit is perfect, just the way I like it.  Not too loose, not too tight.

My fabric is an “unknown fiber”, a “single-knit”,  but looks and feels like a cotton/poly blend and is nice on the skin.  It’s quite lightweight and perfect for this summer style.  The downside to my fabric is that it’s quite opaque and my coloured sports bras show through.  I used a remnant for the facing in my Bobbie sample.

The banded scoop neck keeps it’s shape through hard wearing while I do yard work and garden.  I attached it with a 4-thread overlock, then top-stitched from the right side.

The sleeve ties on Mimosa were easy, simply follow the step by step directions.

My lightweight fabric gave me a bit of a challenge as far as the curved hem was concerned.  I ended up using my differential feed on my serger to gather the curved areas, then gently pressed up the hem.  Then I used 1/4 inch steam-a-seam to fuse up the curved areas before top-stitching the hem from the right side.

This review of Mimosa is my second review of four of the new collection.  Yesterday I reviewed Bobbie 3880, next will be Lisette 3883, a great pull-on pencil skirt, and my final review will be of Rose 3881, a sleeveless button-down shirt.

  1. Tee suits you and the sleeve ties are becoming.
I’ve not tried steam a seam . Looks like a useful item to have on hand.

  2. Loving this style! Looks great on you. Nice stitching job … You know all the neat tricks on making garments look great. Are these patterns available locally?

    • Thanks Judy, nice stitching takes a garment to the top, I think. The new patterns will be available June 4th, and as for getting them locally, that depends on the dealer.
