From the moment I saw this pattern I knew I wanted it. And I don’t even wear skirts anymore. It was the seam detailing that called me, I saw twin needle topstitching! I sewed up my first sample in a stretch ultra suede with not enough stretch. You would have laughed watching me try to shimmy into it, lol!
But check out that top-stitching!

Lisette pattern requires medium to heavy-weight knit with good recovery: jersey or interlock knit, ponte, quilted knit, scuba with 40% stretch.
I have a piece of 320 gm Ponte from Distinctive Sewing Supplies in black that’s perfect. I wrapped it around my hips and thought, “NO”. At 64 years old, my love of good food and mediocre wine shows, haha. No tight knits around these hips. You’re welcome.
Stretch wovens are my solution for comfort and good fit, but the ones in my stash only stretch 25%. (4 inches stretches to 5 inches)
Here’s my Solution!
I went up 2 sizes, cut this, and sewed it between breakfast and lunch. For real. And I’m very happy with it. Lisette in Stretch Woven, a winner in my books.
Schmetz Universal Twin 6.0/100 is the perfect needle for that topstitching.
I used Sulky 12 weight cotton thread in 2 shades of grey.
Another sample is ready for the CreativFestival and for my class “Twin Needle Mastery”. October 11, 12 & 13, 2018.
Have you made this skirt? Do you love it? How’s the fit?
