Lisette 3883 Jalie has another new Pattern
Lisette is a Skirt!
Lisette is a skirt, but not just ANY skirt.
Another new addition to the Jalie pattern line; slim-fitting, high-waist pull-on pencil skirt that sits at the navel with two length options: mini or knee length.
- A: Skirt with elasticized waist
- B: Skirt with elasticized waist and flattering angled seaming, perfect for color blocking.
- C: Skirt with wide waistband. A super quick sewing project, perfect for beginners, an easy way to create a chic and sophisticated look in no time!
I chose view B for my Lisette sample, and a piece of burgundy coloured ultra-suede from my stash.
Don’t you love how the twin needle top-stitching really sets accents the seams. Sulky 12 weight cotton and a Schmetz 6/100 twin needle made it stand out.
I only had one spool of the thread so I wound some off onto a bobbin to use as my second thread. This thread is very thick, so back-stitching is not an option. Instead, leave threads long enough to thread onto a hand-needle and pull then to the back before weaving them away.
This was an easy skirt to sew up, in fact I whipped it up in an afternoon, even with all the top-stitching.
And I learned a few important lessons!
- Choose the right fabric and test the stretch! My skirt looks lovely, but I can’t shimmy into it. Jalie suggests medium to heavy-weight knit with good recovery: jersey or interlock knit, ponte, quilted knit, scuba. I get my Ponte from Distinctive Sewing Supplies, and my next Lisette will made in a piece of their 320 gm ponte.
- Use a good quality elastic!
- Don’t stretch the waist of the skirt as you attach the elastic!
I don’t even wear skirts and I like this style so much! It’s a classy skirt, a fun skirt, or a great skirt pattern to help a beginner gain confidence.
Lisette has 27 sizes included, for girls, women and plus.

Suzanne, a large pile of projects are a good sign.
I love that skirt. The twin needle stitching makes it really stand out. Perhaps a must try for myself.
Yes Sandra, you should make that skirt, the style would look fantastic on you!
