I recently taught an on-line class for That Sewing Place Newmarket.  Our project this time was Jalie’s Charlie Bomber jacket (#3675) (fully lined) and I sewed my teaching sample in fleece.  I always make a teaching sample.

Teaching on Zoom has it’s challenges, and so I often teach from my sewing machine with a camera set up between me and the presser foot.

I also suggested that everyone make a sample of the welt pocket BEFORE attempting to insert it into the jacket.  I really like this pocket and, like most sewing projects, are easy, if you take them one step at a time.  Having a sample to refer to can be a big help.

It was a great 5-week course and I look forward to working with them again.  I’ll be heading to Newmarket in person for a live retreat in October, but before that we plan on sewing Jalie’s Renee Ponte Pants. (That Sewing Place just received a fantastic new Ponte in black that I can’t wait to see.)

(I added a welt pocket to my versions and will include those directions in the class.)

If sewing Jalie’s garment patterns interest you, I am hosting my own 2-day retreat here in Trenton Ontario November 17 & 18, 2023.  I only take 10 people, so if you’re interested, please email me at yvettechilcott@yahoo.ca for more info. (here’s some info about the last one I had.)
