Jalie 2020 Pattern Launch, I Sewed 7
The Wait
On February 20th, 2020, the PDF versions of Jalie’s new sewing patterns were made available to Jalie’s Creative Ambassadors. We chose our favourites and the marathon of sewing began. For the Jalie 2020 pattern launch I sewed 7!
1 dress, 1 pair of leggings, 1 pair of pants, 1 jacket, 1 pullover sweater, 1 reversible topper and 1 dress/blouse. I then sent the files to my local printshop (JB Print Solutions, Trenton Ontario) and them printed on large sheets.
At the same time I was working on a guest blog post for Fabricville, and was able to select 3 of their fabrics to work with. A pale blue ponte for the pants, a blue tie-dye looking rayon for the blouse and a coral coloured linen blend for the dress. My stash revealed the perfect fabric for the pullover and topper, so I sewed them up right away.
Then we went on a 2 week vacation to North Carolina. No sewing. We returned home 4 days before the world turned upside down and we were all locked down. The order from Fabricville was timed to arrive the day after we got home, it did, thank goodness!
The Challenge of Sewing during Covid19
My stash never embarrassed me and now I treasure it even more. All my favourite fabric stores closed for Covid19 safety reasons. 11 bins of fabric, hundreds of spools of thread, bolts of interfacing, and zippers in many colours and lengths meant I could sew and sew and sew. The only item I didn’t have in my stash was mesh lining for the jacket. Fabric Fabric came to the rescue. I ordered bright yellow, red, black and silver grey. The jacket was for my hubby and he chose the exciting colour of black for his jacket. (Now I have a stash of brightly coloured mesh lining, yay!)
