Garment Sewing Retreat with Jalie in Ingersoll
A Garment Sewing Retreat with Jalie
I’m counting down the days, I’ve sewn up a few new garments, and I have 3 lectures ready to present! Catherine Goetz of Distinctive Sewing Supplies organized this garment sewing retreat for November 19, 20 and 21. The featured guest is Emilie of Jalie, with Catherine and I assisting with guidance as needed.
In preparation for this event, I’ve been sewing up more sample garments to take with me. I teach best by “hands-on” and making the actual garments is a great learning tool for me.
What I’ve Sewn for this Sewing Retreat with Jalie with Links
Vanessa Pants, Jalie 3787, my new favourite summer pants, sewn in stretch 5.6-ounce denim. These feature a flat front and a wide elasticized waistband and are designed for soft draping woven fabrics.
Mimosa Tee with sleeve ties, Jalie 3890 sewn in a rayon spandex jersey print like this one. I’ve made a few of these tees and I’m fond of the looser fit and the high/low hem.
Eleonore pull on jeans, Jalie 3461 sewn in stretch bengaline. I’ve made so many jeans and capris with this pattern that I’ve lost count of the number! I guess I like them!
Charlie bomber jacket, Jalie 3675 sewing in stretch twill and lined with stretch 5.6-ounce denim. This jacket was a dream to sew, the pockets are genius and my substitution of fleece for the ribbing makes it a cozy jacket. I added inside pockets to the added lining for convenience.
Clara leggings, Jalie 3887, sewn in 300 gm ITY. The photo doesn’t show it, but there is no center front seam on this style, thereby avoiding that dreaded “camel toe”.
My hubby’s shorts, Jalie 2107, Mens’ Pants and Shorts. This pattern is out of print, only available as a PDF download, but a real classic. Make it in twill like this. My hubby likes these a lot, and everyone agrees, they look “just like store-bought”.
Can you even imagine how much fun I’ve had making all of these? This retreat is sold out, (read more by clicking here) but there are more in my future. Watch this space for information as I post it. Better yet, if you haven’t subscribed for blog updates, do it now!
Oh Sewing Retreat, here we come!
