An Eleonore sew-along, that is Jalie’s Eleonore 3461.

If you were part of my last sew-along you know how I play.

  • It’s free again!
  • Starts August 17, 2019Registration is now closed.  All the tutorials will become available for sale 2 weeks after this sew-along wraps up.  Please email me for the details.
  • The posts will be password protected.
  • Registration will be by emailing me for the password and a supply list.  I add each participant’s email address to a separate group so I can let you know when a new tutorial is available.
  • You need to own the pattern, and the pocket add-on if desired. You can buy that here.
  • I’ll publish a tutorial as a downloadable PDF every few days here on my blog.  I’m a “teacher” so that’s how I write.  If you’re an experienced sewist there might be a lot of details, but I do like to inspire newbies.
  • You’ll sew along with the group as I post (I hope)
  • I welcome questions by email or by commenting on my blog.
  • The tutorials will remain here for a few weeks for free after wrap-up, then they’ll be available for sale.

I’ve actually lost track of the number of times I’ve sewn this pattern, somewhere in the teens.  As capris for summer, and full length for winter, in prints, in plains, and I’ve loved most of them.  I’ve even worn a few pairs out!

Here’s what I’ll cover in the Eleonore sew-along:

  • Choosing the right fabric
  • Choosing the right size to make
  • How and why to make a trial/muslin pair
  • Tracing and/or printing your pattern
  • basic alterations including lengthening the rise and maybe the back pocket
  • pattern layout, cutting and marking
  • Twin needle tips
  • Back pocket customization
  • Sewing on pockets, adding the yokes and completing the back
  • Sewing the front seam, front yoke (if not adding functional pockets), and the fake fly
  • (optional adding functional front pockets with the Jalie pocket add-on)
  • Inseam and outer leg seam
  • Waistband attaching the elastic, sewing side seams and attaching to the jeans
  • hems

Please note that if pant fitting is a challenge for you, I don’t pretend to be an expert.   This sew-along is based on sewing.

Here’s the wrap-up post of my last sew-along, Jalie’s Tania coatigan.

    • Wow Jane, welcome xoxo! Please send me an email so I can start a new address list (I deleted the Tania list as part of the wrap-up), and I’ll give you the secret password.

  1. I’m looking forward to this—I’ve had the pattern for a year but never found the right fabric to try it. And never made pants before, only shorts.

  2. Are you selling a wrap up of the Eleonore sew along? I can’t find it anywhere. I made this pattern a few years ago and i would like to try again with real pockets and a higher rise. Any tips would be appreciated. I do have your instructions for the pockets. Thank you! Megan
