Easy Wearing, Alice by Jalie 3904

Here I am, easy wearing Alice by Jalie, when it was first released.  Easy to wear, perfect for a little bit of “dress-up”.

Here’s Jalie’s description:

Easy-to-wear, feminine top, semi-fitted at bust and hips, with more ease around the waist. V neck finished with facing, cap sleeve and optional keyhole back (required for kids sizes, optional in adult sizes). The diagonal seaming allows you to do some fun color blocking and mock crossover effect. View B is finished with an encased elastic at the bottom.

Adapting Alice to my Body Shape:

As I’m aging, my body shape is changing.  I spend a lot of time (probably too much time) sitting in front of a sewing machine, computer, or standing at the ironing board and cutting table.  The result?  Round shoulders!  Not too noticeable when I wear an unadjusted knit garment, but definitely seen when I wear fitted woven garments. The back neck stands away from my body.  It’s an easy alteration, and well worth the effort.  I also added 1 inch in length.  That’s a normal addition for me at 5 ft 10 inches.

I’ll write up a tutorial on how I did it using this pattern within the next few weeks.

As for the colour-blocking, I cut all the pieces from the polka dots EXCEPT for the right sleeve and 1 of piece “A”, as is worn on the right side of my body.  Those were cut from the solid blue, and I paid close attention as I pinned the pattern pieces to my fabric.  Both pattern pieces were cut from the polka dots with the right (good) side facing up, therefore I made sure that I used the solid fabric with the wrong side facing up.

In the meantime, I’m wearing it!  Just loose enough to skim my torso, and enough shape for “style.  Easy wearing Alice, perfect for summer!
