Custom Scrappy Quilt Borders
Designing Custom Scrappy Quilt Borders
I really like scrap quilts. I like random scrap quilts and organized scrap quilts. I follow Bonnie Hunter, who in my opinion is the Ultimate Scrap Queen. I even design some of my own scrap quilts, and then started to design custom scrappy quilt borders.
In my Scrap Happy Zoom class for December we played with a scrap quilt block called “Broken Hearts”.
When it was all said and done I had 20 completed blocks, so put 4 into a cushion and the remaining 16 into a small quilt top. It was smaller than I wanted.
And that’s how the custom scrappy quilt border class idea began.
I learned a lot by experimenting, measuring, calculating and just having fun. And I did have fun! And I actually completed the entire quilt, including quilting it on my long-arm and adding scrappy binding.
If you’d like to join us on Sunday, January 30th, we Zoom at 10 am Trenton Ontario (Toronto) time. To register, please send me $5 to yvettechilcott@yahoo.ca either through Paypal or etransfer. I’ll confirm your registration by email and send the zoom link with the hand-out on Saturday.
If you’d like to purchase the instructions on making the “Broken Heart” appliqued quilt blocks with the heart template, as well as my instructions on making a simple envelope style cushion cover, it’s $4 U.S. and the link is at the bottom of this post: Scrap Happy Broken Hearts
