Create Your Sleeve Style
Sleeve styles make a garment unique.
If you have a “Tried and True” (TNT) tee pattern that you love the fit of, why not change up the sleeve style?
Create Your Sleeve Style
My TNT is Jalie’s 2805; Women’s Tee Shirts. I know which size fits me the way I like, it already comes with 4 different neckline styles:
- Jewel neck
- Mock turtleneck
- V-Neck
- Overlapped V-neck with decorative buttons (henley).
and 4 sleeve lengths
- Cap sleeve
- Short sleeve
- Three-quarter sleeve
- Long sleeve
Sew down the rabbit hole of sleeve styles I went. All due to a garment sewing retreat that I was a part of at That Sewing Place, Newmarket. I wrote about that here (click)
Including the basic 4 sleeve lengths, I came up with a total of 17 sleeve styles for knits, enough to write a book! An e-book, called Create Your Sleeve Style. Each style creation includes detailed instructions and diagrams, with photos of some. All based on a fitted sleeve designed for knit fabrics. I used Jalie’s sleeve pattern, but you could substitute your own favourite pattern for a fitted sleeve, as long as it was drafted for stretch knits.
Create Your Sleeve Style E-Book Includes:
- Descriptions of the different sleeve lengths
- Tulip Sleeve
- Flutter Sleeve
- Ruched Sleeve-Cap
- Fully Ruched Sleeve
- Half Flutter Cap Sleeve
- Puffed Sleeve
- Lantern Sleeve
- Ruffle (Gathered) Sleeve bottom
- Flounced Sleeve bottom
- Bell Sleeve
- Bishop’s Sleeve
- Peasant Sleeve
- Trumpet Sleeve
and more.
I’ll write a post and send out a newsletter with pricing and purchase information when my book is complete. It will be in a PDF format, for you to print or save for future reference.
In the meantime, if there is a sleeve style you’d like to create that isn’t on my list, be sure to email me with the suggestion. No promises, but anything is possible.
