Claudette Shirt/Dress Teaching Sample
I’m getting ready to teach a virtual class using Jalie’s Claudette, so I’m busy making notes and a Claudette Shirt/Dress teaching sample.
Here’s what happened! I took a few minutes to look for images on the internet and an hour passed! But I found LOTS of inspiration! I typed in “shacket” and went down a rabbit hole. It’s getting into fall and winter here and there’s something so cozy about a plaid flannel shirt, or a plaid “Shacket”.
The top left pic is me, wearing my first Claudette, (I wrote about it here)
The second photo was found on Temu, and a similar version is on my radar. I bought a beautiful plaid with that idea in mind, but now see that the Temu version is fleecy knit. Here’s the piece of fabric.
I also have a piece of blue chambray with a colour coordinating piece of cotton for the under-collar, inside collar and inside the sleeve cuffs, oh, the ideas!
Now all that prep is for a virtual 3-week class for That Sewing Place, Newmarket. Writing notes, drawing diagrams, and adding pictures. Sew, I cut a Claudette from a soft rayon in a wild floral print on a black background for my teaching sample. That should be a fun, vibrant shirt. My sample will be the shirt length, view “A”.
Then, my copy of Threads magazine arrived, with a picture of a shirt featuring modern applique on the front cover! Jalie’s Claudette would be perfect for that shirt!
I’m looking forward to our class, and will post more pictures of my Claudette shirt/dress teaching sample as we go along.
Have you made Jalie’s Claudette? I’d love to hear from you!
