Class Sample Jalie’s Renee in Caramel Ponte
My new class sample; Jalie’s Renee in caramel coloured Ponte was a joy to sew.
I had treated myself to a slight fabric shopping spree at our local Fabricland a few weeks ago. Usually when I’m there I shop the marked-downs, but I was also watching for Ponte in a colour that wasn’t navy, grey or black. Stitch by Stitch Kingston has booked me to teach a Zoom class for Jalie’s Renee pattern, therefore I wanted to refresh my notes and make some samples in a photo-friendly colour. It photographs more like orange, but it’s really not that bright.
Minor Alterations for my Class Sample Jalie’s Renee Ponte Pant Pattern
- I take a tuck in the back pattern for a “flat seat”, removing 1/2 inch in the height and width
- add a 1/2 inch in the front for a “round tummy”
- add 2 inches in length for my height.
- Oh, and I add a single welt pocket in the right front. (in this post)
I love how the seams in this pattern scream for twin-needle top-stitching. Due to the substantial weight of the seams, the twin needle topstitching didn’t tunnel. I used a Schmetz 6mm size 100 needle and lengthened my stitch to 4mm.
This pattern has become one of my go-to pant patterns, with this class sample Jalie’s Renee being number 6, including a couple I shortened to capri length. I’m looking forward to sharing this project on Zoom in the very near future.
I’ll share the details of the flowery top that I’m wearing in the photos in my next blog post.
Be sure to subscribe, and I’ll show you how I combined a hacked Jalie Yoko with Jalie’s Dolman.
These look great. Nice colour as we head into spring, especially with the floral.
thanks Katherine, a bit out of my comfort zone, but definitely more Springish than my normal navy black and grey, lol. Take care!
