Alice & Charlotte by Jalie
Introducing Alice and Charlotte by Jalie
Two more new sewing patterns, Alice & Charlotte by Jalie
Alice #3904
Sewing pattern for an easy-to-wear, feminine top, semi-fitted at bust and hips, with more ease around the waist.
- V neck finished with facing, cap sleeve and optional keyhole back (required for kids sizes, optional in adult sizes).
- The diagonal seaming allows you to do some fun color blocking and mock crossover effect.
- View B is finished with an encased elastic at the bottom.
- clear, to the point and concise, usually only a page or 2
- they’re available on the Jalie website to view AND print even before you buy your pattern. (check that out by clicking here)
- the sewing techniques used are professional
My fabric is very plain so I used top-stitching to accent the diagonal front seams.
My Button-loop Success
Due to the slipperiness of my fabric, I made a few attempts at the button loop before I got it right. I ended up cutting the piece wider and longer than the pattern, then sewing it onto tissue paper ater folding it lengthways. I trimmed the width to size then turned it right side out. After cutting it the correct length, folding it into a loop as directed, then I sewed it to a scrap of tissue paper. It was easier than fighting with a sharp pin.
I LOVE the look and used a small covered button to complete the neckline. I buy these locally.
I’ve seen some awesome photos of completed Alice tops colour-blocked, this pattern is perfect for that. Click here to get your Alice pattern from Jalie.

Charlotte #3900
Classic jewel neck cardigan with long sleeve, hem and wrist bands.
- Buttons at the front are optional.
- View A hits at the hips and has pockets
- View B is a cropped version.
Every wardrobe needs cardigans, and I decided a white one was in order. I like the classy details, cuffs, pockets, a bottom band. It isn’t just a stretchy drapey piece of fabric with no style. It’s almost a jacket. The knit fabric I chose is not very stretchy, it does fit within the requirements, but just. Having said that, although it fits a little snugger than I like, for summer, over a light blouse, it’s perfect. The textured stripe of this knit opened up some creative layout opportunities. I did not add snaps or buttons, for summer I rather like the edge-to-edge look.
I have a couple of other pieces of fabric that are a bit softer and stretchier that I’ll use for my next version. This pattern offers many variations, so it’s a keeper for me! Order your pattern from Jalie by clicking here.

As a Jalie Creative Ambassador, I received these patterns at no charge so that I could sew samples and review them. My opinions are honest and my own. If I didn’t like the pattern I wouldn’t have chosen it, and this review reflects my sewing experiences.
Sew, that’s it for the 3 reviews I peeked at in this post.
In case you missed the other 2 reviews, here’s the one about Simone and Nicole.
And here’s the one about the Tania Coatigan.
I hope you sew up some of these new patterns and enjoy the process AND the finished product as much as I do. I love your comments, so be sure to leave one, you know, I read and respond to all!
Yvette, I really like the white Charlotte cardigan. So often you need a light cardigan on a summer evening to ward off the chill. This cardigan perfect? The material you selected is lovely . Just a terrific cardigan and the fit is wonderful on you!!
Thank you Heather, if it ever gets warm, my cardigan is ready.
